Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.
SDDM greeter login box breaks on multi-monitor (upstream SDDM bug, affects Omarchy directly)

Original report
System details: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS (Phoenix1 iGPU) + discrete Navi 24 RX 6400/6500M (drives the external monitor via DP-1), MSI Bravo 15 B7EDP, Omarchy 4.0.0
What's wrong?
Omarchy's SDDM greeter (the Wayland/Qt6 greeter with Hyprland as the greeter compositor) mispositions the login box on multi-monitor setups. On a laptop with an external monitor connected, the login box renders centered correctly on the internal panel alone, but as soon as the external monitor is detected, it jumps to the top-left corner on both outputs instead of staying centered.
This is confirmed to be an upstream SDDM limitation, not something specific to Omarchy's theme or Hyprland config: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/2066 (and related: #2017, #2127, #1898). SDDM's Qt/Wayland greeter apparently doesn't correctly size/position its per-screen views when multiple monitors are involved. I left a comment confirming the same symptom with Omarchy's setup and some additional reproduction detail (the bug is toggleable on demand by turning the external monitor off/on, not just boot-timing-dependent): https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/2066#issuecomment-5402792681
Things tried locally that did not help (ruling out an Omarchy-side fix at the theme/compositor-config level):
- Binding the theme's root QML size to Screen.width/Screen.height instead of a hardcoded fallback.
- Explicitly declaring monitor positions (hl.monitor rules) in the greeter's minimal Hyprland config (default/sddm/hyprland.lua).
Filing this here since it's a real regression in day-to-day Omarchy use on multi-monitor laptops, and the upstream issue has had no maintainer engagement since March 2025. Might be worth evaluating an alternative Wayland-native greeter with proper multi-monitor support (e.g. nwg-hello, which uses gtk-layer-shell) if upstream SDDM doesn't move on this.
