Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
Screensaver appears while video is playing on Omarchy 4
System
- Omarchy: 4.0.1-1
- Hyprland: 0.56.2-1
- Session: Wayland
- GPU: Intel Iris Xe Graphics (Raptor Lake-P, PCI ID 8086:a7a0)
- Kernel: 7.1.9-arch1-2
- Affected apps: FreeTube, Grayjay, Zen browser
Description
Since upgrading to Omarchy 4, the screensaver appears while an actively playing video is open. This occurs in multiple unrelated applications, so it does not appear specific to one player or browser.
The screensaver appears after approximately 150 seconds, matching the default Omarchy hypridle timeout.
Expected behavior
Active video playback should inhibit the idle screensaver.
Reproduction
- Start a video in FreeTube, Grayjay, or Zen browser.
- Leave the keyboard and mouse untouched.
- Keep the video playing.
- Wait approximately 150 seconds.
- The Omarchy screensaver appears over the video.
Workaround
The following prevents the problem:
omarchy toggle idle stay-awakeNormal idle behavior can be restored with:
omarchy toggle idle allow-idleThe problem did not occur before upgrading to Omarchy 4.
Configuration check
The active Omarchy 4 configuration loads the stock Lua defaults. My personal configuration does not add or remove video idle inhibition, and contains no idle_inhibit, systemd-inhibit, or screensaver override. The only idle-related custom item is the normal toggle binding.
The stock Omarchy app rules include idle inhibition for tagged/fullscreen apps, but the affected video windows are not covered by those rules.
