Problem

Google shut down Gemini CLI consumer auth on 2026-06-18. The gemini agent entry in Omarchy's default menu still installs via mise use -g gemini, which pulls @google/gemini-cli from npm. The install fails because [email protected] can't build:

mise ERROR no tasks defined in ~/.local/share/mise/installs/gemini/0.56.0/node_modules/.mise/[email protected]/node_modules/node-pty. Are you in a project directory?
mise ERROR Failed to install npm:@google/gemini-cli@latest: aube install failed: lifecycle script install failed for [email protected]: script `install` exited with code Some(1)

Impact

Three things trigger this error:

  1. `omarchy refresh applications` — runs omarchy-mise-install gemini (in install/user/mise.sh) which overwrites the user's shim with a broken mise wrapper.
  2. Clicking the Gemini agent in Setup > Default > Agent — runs omarchy-default-agent gemini which calls mise use -g gemini, triggering the npm install.
  3. `Super+Ctrl+Shift+A` keybinding — launches omarchy-agent which reads the gemini default and calls the mise wrapper.

Workaround

Replace the gemini entry with Antigravity CLI (agy) using user-space interceptors. Script: https://github.com/thebigdave/omarchy-agy

Suggested fix

  • Remove gemini from install/user/mise.sh
  • Update the setup.default.agent.gemini menu entry or remove it
  • Update omarchy-agent to handle the gemini case
