Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Bluetooth panel cannot re-enable an rfkill-blocked adapterrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 12:03 UTC via poll

What happened

Turning Bluetooth off from Omarchy's Bluetooth panel calls omarchy-bluetooth-power off, which correctly uses rfkill block bluetooth to persist the off state. On this ThinkPad, that causes BlueZ/Quickshell to report no default adapter.

At that point the same panel displays No Bluetooth adapter, but offers no way to turn Bluetooth back on. The radio can only be recovered from a terminal with omarchy restart bluetooth (or sudo rfkill unblock bluetooth).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start with Bluetooth on and a visible adapter.
  2. Open Omarchy's Bluetooth panel.
  3. Turn Bluetooth off using its on/off switch.
  4. Reopen the panel.

Expected behavior

The panel should retain an enabled control to turn Bluetooth back on, even while rfkill makes the BlueZ adapter unavailable.

Actual behavior

The panel reports No Bluetooth adapter and its switch is hidden, creating a dead end in the UI.

Cause and suggested fix

In shell/plugins/panels/bluetooth/Panel.qml, toggleBluetooth() returns immediately when adapter is null, and the ToggleSwitch is only visible when !!root.adapter. When rfkill blocks the radio, both conditions prevent recovery.

A local user-plugin workaround that works is:

function toggleBluetooth() {
  Quickshell.execDetached(["omarchy-bluetooth-power", adapter && adapter.enabled ? "off" : "on"])
}

ToggleSwitch {
  visible: true
  checked: !!root.adapter && root.adapter.enabled
  // ...
}

Environment

  • Omarchy: 4.0.1-1
  • Hardware: ThinkPad P1 Gen 2
  • Bluetooth service remained active and enabled.
  • rfkill list bluetooth after turning it off showed Soft blocked: yes, Hard blocked: no.
