Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

IPU6 MIPI cameras (ov01a10 / OVTI01A0) get no setup — hardware detection only covers IPU7revision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 12:10 UTC via poll

What

On IPU6 laptops the webcam silently never works after an Omarchy install. /dev/video0..31 exist but only emit raw Bayer; nothing installs the libcamera userspace needed to actually use the sensor.

Cause

install/hardware/intel/ipu7-camera.sh only acts on IPU7 hardware:

if grep -q "OVTI08F4" /sys/bus/acpi/devices/*/hid 2>/dev/null; then
  omarchy-pkg-add intel-ipu7-camera
fi

There is no equivalent for IPU6. IPU6 covers a large installed base — every Dell XPS 13 9315, plus many Alder Lake / Raptor Lake / Meteor Lake laptops — with sensors enumerated as OVTI01A0, OVTI2740, INT3537, OVTI5678, etc. behind INTC1094 (VSC) and/or the LJCA USB bridge.

Repro

  • Dell XPS 13 9315, IPU6, sensor ov01a10 @ OVTI01A0:00
  • Fresh Omarchy, kernel 7.1.9
  • cam -l → command not found; no libcamera* packages; browsers / Signal show no camera

Suggested fix

Detect IPU6 and install the libcamera stack. Minimal:

# install/hardware/intel/ipu6-camera.sh
if grep -qE "OVTI01A0|OVTI2740|OVTI01AS|INT3537|OVTI5678" \
     /sys/bus/acpi/devices/*/hid 2>/dev/null; then
  omarchy-pkg-add libcamera libcamera-ipa pipewire-libcamera
fi

That alone makes the camera work in PipeWire-native apps. For a real /dev/video node that every app (Chromium, Signal, Zoom, OBS) sees, the working reference setup is v4l2loopback-dkms + linux-headers + gst-plugin-libcamera with a libcamerasrc → v4l2sink bridge run as a systemd user service, toggled on demand so the camera and its privacy LED are idle when unused.

Note: the v4l2-relayd package in the Omarchy repo doesn't work for libcamera cameras

v4l2-relayd 0.2.0's [email protected] is confined for videotestsrc (LimitNPROC=1, InaccessibleDirectories=/home, DevicePolicy=closed). With VIDEOSRC="libcamerasrc ..." the input pipeline fails to construct (gst_element_set_state: assertion 'GST_IS_ELEMENT (element)' failed) — libcamerasrc forks the libcamera IPA helper, which LimitNPROC=1 blocks. Needs at least LimitNPROC=infinity in a drop-in, or a different approach.

Environment

Omarchy, kernel 7.1.9-arch1-2
Dell XPS 9315, BIOS 1.39.0
libcamera 0.7.2-3, v4l2loopback-dkms 0.15.4-2
