Original report
When PipeWire is restarted (e.g., via omarchy-restart-audio) while the audio panel is open or its internal model state hasn't cleared, the quickshell process crashes with a segmentation fault.
What happens:
The quickshell process executing the Omarchy shell crashes with a SIGSEGV and automatically restarts.
Root Cause:
In /usr/share/omarchy/shell/plugins/panels/audio/Panel.qml, the code caches PipeWire nodes (cachedAudioSinks = rawAudioSinks) to prevent UI flickering.
When PipeWire restarts, Quickshell's PipeWire service legitimately deletes the PwNode QObjects. However, the QML UI continues to hold references to these destroyed QObjects in cachedAudioSinks because it falls back to them when rawAudioSinks drops to zero.
A 75ms timer then fires, assigning these destroyed objects to displayAudioSinks. The Repeater attempts to regenerate using this array. In Qt6, passing an array of destroyed QObjects to a Repeater model causes VDMListDelegateDataType::createMissingProperties to dereference invalid memory, resulting in a SIGSEGV.
Expected:
The audio panel should handle PipeWire nodes being removed without retaining references to destroyed QObjects that will crash the QML engine.
System Details:
- Omarchy version: 4.0.2-1
- Quickshell version: 0.3.1
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have the Omarchy audio panel open.
2. Trigger omarchy-restart-audio (or restart PipeWire).
3. The shell crashes.
