What happened

In command/code CLI (AI coding agents running in the terminal — Claude Code, Codex, opencode, etc.), I cannot paste an image. When I try to paste a screenshot from the clipboard into the CLI prompt, nothing works. The image cannot be attached to the prompt.

I was trying to paste an image into the code/agent prompt to show the issue. It does not work.

What was expected

Paste an image (e.g. a screenshot) from the clipboard directly into the CLI prompt of command/code tools, so the agent can see it.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open terminal (default foot)
  2. Launch a command/code CLI agent
  3. Copy an image to clipboard (e.g. screenshot)
  4. Try to paste it into the prompt
  5. Nothing happens — image is not pasted/attached
