ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Login screen (SDDM) randomly freezes on password input - keyboard unresponsive, requires hard rebootrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 17:50 UTC via poll

System details

PC: Aspire A315-44P (V1.13) CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700U (16) @ 4.37 GHz GPU: Lucienne (integrated Radeon) Display: 1920x1080 in 15", 60 Hz [Built-in] Disk: 70.81 GiB / 133.06 GiB (53%) - btrfs OS: Omarchy 4.0.4-1 Kernel: Linux 7.2.5-3-omarchy Compositor: Hyprland 0.56.2 (Wayland) Terminal: foot 1.28.0 Theme: Tokyo Night OS Age: 28 days Dual-boot with Windows 11 (shrunk partition setup)

What's wrong?

Every so often, the login screen freezes while I'm typing my password. The keyboard appears completely unresponsive — no characters register, and I can't switch to a TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F2/F3) either. The only way to recover is a hard power-off and reboot the laptop. Once I restart, login works normally again until the next random occurrence.

Reproduction

Happens roughly 1 in every 4–5 boots. Not tied to anything obvious I've identified yet (cold boot vs. resume from sleep, time of day, etc.) — it's intermittent but frequent enough to be a real annoyance. Will update with more detail as I narrow down a pattern.

Expected behavior

The login screen (SDDM) should accept password input reliably without freezing the keyboard/session.

Additional notes

Dual-boot install via "Free space install" with LUKS encryption, disk shrunk via GParted Live after the Omarchy installer's initial shrink was limited. Happy to pull logs (journalctl, SDDM logs) if someone can point me to the relevant ones, since the keyboard being fully locked means I can't currently grab logs mid-freeze.
