Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

Inkscape's file dialogs tile instead of floating: it draws its own GTK chooser, not the portal'srevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

Omarchy floats dialogs by matching xdg-desktop-portal-gtk, plus an explicit per-app list (sublime_text|DesktopEditors|org.gnome.Nautilus) in default/hypr/apps/system.lua. Inkscape draws its own in-process GTK file chooser rather than calling the portal, so neither rule matches and its dialogs get tiled.

Tiled, they're squeezed small enough that the Cancel/OK buttons aren't reachable, so importing a file is effectively impossible. It reads as "Inkscape is broken on Omarchy" rather than as a window rule — that's certainly how I read it at first.

Repro: pacman -S inkscape, open it, Ctrl+I. hyprctl clients shows the dialog with floating: false; mine came up at 366x443, and the file chooser's action buttons were off the window.

What fixed it here, in the spirit of the existing list:

o.window({
  class = "^org\\.inkscape\\.Inkscape$",
  title = "^(Select .* to (import|open|save).*|Open [Ff]ile.*|Save a Copy.*|.* bitmap image import|.*(Input|Output))$",
}, { tag = "+floating-window" })

Inkscape's main windows end in " - Inkscape", so they keep tiling; I checked the dialog titles against Inkscape's own strings and against probe windows with faked titles.

That said, I don't know whether extending the per-app title list is the direction you want — GIMP and Krita likely have the same shape, so you may prefer something broader, or to leave it to users' own config. Happy to send a PR if the per-app rule is the right call, or to drop it if not.
