Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). What's wrong?
This is a paste from AI about the issue.. but the basic problem is that after you wake the system up from a sleep hdmi audio no longer works, it seems to possibly be an issue with the new kernel that was updated..
Title: Intel Kabylake HDMI (i915/HDA) audio lost after S3 resume — ELD never re-read; only reboot recovers. Regression between kernel 7.1.9 and 7.2.3
Hardware: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th gen (Omarchy/Arch Linux); HDA controller 8086:9d71 @ 00:1f.3; HDMI codec 8086:8086280b (Intel Kabylake HDMI) tied to 0000:02.0 (i915); monitor: Sceptre O34 on native HDMI-A-1.
Software:
- Kernel 7.1.9.arch1-2 -> working (9-day uptime, repeated suspend/resume, HDMI audio fine)
- Kernel 7.2.3.arch1-3 -> broken (current)
- wireplumber 0.5.15 -> 0.5.17 (symptom reproduces without this change; bug is kernel/ALSA side)
- pipewire 1.6.8
Summary:
After S3 suspend/resume, HDMI audio goes silent and stays silent until a reboot.
The HDA HDMI codec reports "no monitor" even though the GPU still sees the display.
Evidence (captured while broken):
- /sys/class/drm/card1-HDMI-A-1/status = connected
- /sys/class/drm/card1-HDMI-A-1/enabled = enabled
- /sys/class/drm/card1-HDMI-A-1/dpms = On
- /sys/class/drm/card1-HDMI-A-1/edid = present (256 bytes)
- Hyprland: HDMI-A-1 active, not disabled
- amixer -c PCH cget name='HDMI/DP,pcm=3 Jack' = values=off (also pcm=7, pcm=8)
- /proc/asound/PCH/eld#2.0 .. eld#2.8 = monitor_present 0, eld_valid 0 (all)
- dmesg on HDA re-init: "snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1f.3: bound 0000:00:02.0 (ops intel_audio_component_bind_ops [i915])"
- Draining PCM still shows the sink (pro-audio), but no audio transport.
Attempted, all FAIL to restore ELD (short of reboot):
1. PCI remove + rescan of 0000:00:1f.3 (codec re-binds i915; monitor_present still 0)
2. pactl set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1f.3 off -> pro-audio (codec runtime resume; still 0)
3. Display off/on re-set (disable + re-enable HDMI-A-1 via compositor CRTC re-set; still 0)
Only a reboot re-reads the ELD ("Sceptre O34") and restores HDMI audio.
Likely upstream match:
[PATCH] ALSA: hda: Force resume if acomp notified during system suspend (2026-06-26)
-- "if an HDMI cable is connected while the system is suspended, the HDMI audio
jack status stays off after resume ... jack state not being synced by the HDA
HDMI codec device's runtime resume". Adds codec->acomp_requested_resume.
Symptom here matches exactly.
