Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
System details
- Omarchy 4.0.4-1
- Hyprland 0.56.2, quickshell 0.3.1-1, qt6-base 6.11.2-3, qt6-wayland 6.11.2-1
- CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1650 v2
- GPU: 2x AMD FirePro D500 (Tahiti LE),
amdgpudriver - Display: 3840x2160 at scale 1.6 (single monitor)
What's wrong?
Bar tooltips are drawn at the wrong scale for their first two frames on a fractionally scaled output. The bubble appears oversized and clipped (about 1.6x too large, matching the monitor scale), then snaps to the correct size. On screen it reads as a hitch every time a tooltip appears.
Steps to reproduce
- Use a monitor with a fractional scale (1.6 here).
- Hover any bar item that has a tooltip (e.g. an indicator such as Night Light) and wait for the tooltip.
- Watch the tooltip's first frames, or record the bar at 60 fps and step through.
Expected: the tooltip appears at its final size from the first frame.
Actual: at 60 fps, frames 1-2 show the tooltip content enlarged and cut off by the popup bounds; frame 3 onward is correct. A capture of those three consecutive frames is attached, plus the short recording.
Notes
- The tooltip is the
PopupWindow(tooltipWindow) inshell/plugins/bar/Bar.qml; it has no animation of its own. - Hyprland's
fadePopupsIndoes not affect it: setting it to a 3 s fade changed nothing, so it can't be masked from compositor config. - Workaround that removed the bad frames in a local test (in a clone of the bar): keep
tooltipBubbleatopacity: 0for ~70 ms aftertooltipWindowbecomes visible, then fade it in over ~90 ms. - The indicator widget in the capture is a user clone with custom icons (
omarchy plugin clone omarchy.indicators), but the bar and its tooltip code are stockomarchy.bar.
