Summary
After upgrading to qt6-declarative 6.12.0-1 (and quickshell 0.3.2-1), opening the Omarchy menu (omarchy-menu toggle via SUPER + SPACE or SUPER + ESCAPE) causes a pitch-black screen with locked focus, and volume/brightness key adjustments fail to render the on-screen display (OSD).
Environment
- OS: Arch Linux (Omarchy Quattro 4.0.4-1)
- Hyprland: 0.44+
- Quickshell: 0.3.2-1
- Qt Version:
qt6-declarative 6.12.0-1
Root Cause
In Qt 6.12, QtQuick introduced a global Color value type / namespace.
In /usr/share/omarchy/shell/Commons/qmldir, the theme singleton is named Color:
singleton Color 1.0 Color.qmlWhen QML components import both QtQuick and qs.Commons, bare Color resolves to QtQuick.Color (QQuickColor) instead of qs.Commons.Color.
Consequently:
- Color.menu evaluates to undefined, causing Menu.qml to fail rendering its card. Only the full-screen black overlay (scrim) with WlrKeyboardFocus.Exclusive is shown, trapping the user in a black screen.
- Color.popups evaluates to undefined, causing Osd.qml to crash with TypeErrors (Cannot read property 'text' of undefined), so the volume/brightness OSD fails to show.
- Color.tooltip, Color.lock, and Color.polkit similarly throw TypeErrors.
Proposed Solution
- Rename the singleton in
Commons/qmldir(e.g.singleton ThemeColor 1.0 Color.qmlorOmarchyColor) and update references throughout/usr/share/omarchy/shell/. - Or use namespaced imports:
import qs.Commons as Commonsand refer toCommons.Color.*.
Temporary Workaround
Downgrade qt6-* to 6.11.2 and quickshell to 0.3.1-1.

### Summary After upgrading to `qt6-declarative 6.12.0-1` (and `quickshell 0.3.2-1`), opening the Omarchy menu (`omarchy-menu toggle` via `SUPER + SPACE` or `SUPER + ESCAPE`) causes a pitch-black screen with locked focus, and volume/brightness key adjustments fail to render the on-screen display (OSD). ### Environment - **OS:** Arch Linux (Omarchy Quattro 4.0.4-1) - **Hyprland:** 0.44+ - **Quickshell:** 0.3.2-1 - **Qt Version:** `qt6-declarative 6.12.0-1` ### Root Cause In Qt 6.12, `QtQuick` introduced a global `Color` value type / namespace. In `/usr/share/omarchy/shell/Commons/qmldir`, the theme singleton is named `Color`: ```qml singleton Color 1.0 Color.qml ``` When QML components import both `QtQuick` and `qs.Commons`, bare `Color` resolves to `QtQuick.Color` (`QQuickColor`) instead of `qs.Commons.Color`. Consequently: - `Color.menu` evaluates to `undefined`, causing `Menu.qml` to fail rendering its card. Only the full-screen black overlay (`scrim`) with `WlrKeyboardFocus.Exclusive` is shown, trapping the user in a black screen. - `Color.popups` evaluates to `undefined`, causing `Osd.qml` to crash with TypeErrors (`Cannot read property 'text' of undefined`), so the volume/brightness OSD fails to show. - `Color.tooltip`, `Color.lock`, and `Color.polkit` similarly throw TypeErrors. ### Proposed Solution 1. Rename the singleton in `Commons/qmldir` (e.g. `singleton ThemeColor 1.0 Color.qml` or `OmarchyColor`) and update references throughout `/usr/share/omarchy/shell/`. 2. Or use namespaced imports: `import qs.Commons as Commons` and refer to `Commons.Color.*`. ### Temporary Workaround Downgrade `qt6-*` to `6.11.2` and `quickshell` to `0.3.1-1`.
