ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

External monitor over USB-C dock never returns after suspend (ucsi_acpi GET_CABLE_PROPERTY failed, Meteor Lake) — reboot is the only fixrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

What happened

After resuming from suspend (s2idle), the external monitor connected through a
USB-C dock never comes back. The DRM connector stays disconnected and no
amount of software intervention restores it — only a full reboot works.
Unplugging and replugging the dock's USB-C cable does not restore it.

The dock's USB side recovers fine on resume (hub, audio interface, mic all
re-enumerate). Only the DisplayPort alt-mode path is dead.

Everything was working on 4.0.2

What I expected

The external monitor re-attaches on resume, as it does after a fresh boot.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Boot with a USB-C dock attached, external monitor works (DP-3, 1920x1200@60).
  2. Suspend the laptop (lid close / idle).
  3. Resume.
  4. External monitor stays black. hyprctl monitors all lists only eDP-1.
  5. Replugging the dock does nothing. Reboot is the only fix.

Diagnostics

Kernel log immediately after resume — the Type-C connector interface fails:

ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: unknown error 0
ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: GET_CABLE_PROPERTY failed (-5)

DisplayPort alt mode never re-enters:

/sys/class/typec/port0-partner/number_of_alternate_modes = 2
  port0-partner.0 svid=8087 (Thunderbolt3) active=no
  port0-partner.1 svid=ff01 (DisplayPort) active=no
/sys/class/typec/port0-partner/supports_usb_power_delivery = no
/sys/class/typec/port0-partner/usb_power_delivery_revision = 0.0

(port0 itself still reports power_operation_mode=usb_power_delivery,
usb_power_delivery_revision=3.0, so the partner-side PD state is what's lost.)

Hyprland/aquamarine sees the connector drop and never get it back:

drm: Connector DP-3 disconnected
ERR drm: Cannot commit a disconnected output
drm: DP-3 is not connected, clearing stale crtc 269

All DP connectors report disconnected while the dock is physically attached:

/sys/class/drm/card1-DP-1/status: disconnected
/sys/class/drm/card1-DP-2/status: disconnected
/sys/class/drm/card1-DP-3/status: disconnected
/sys/class/drm/card1-DP-4/status: disconnected
/sys/class/drm/card1-eDP-1/status: connected

What I tried (none of it works)

  • Unbind/rebind ucsi_acpi (USBC000:00) via

/sys/bus/platform/drivers/ucsi_acpi/{unbind,bind} — rebinds successfully but
GET_CABLE_PROPERTY failed (-5) returns immediately and alt modes stay inactive.
- Forcing a connector re-probe: echo detect > /sys/class/drm/card1-DP-*/status.
- Physically unplugging and replugging the dock's USB-C cable.

Only a full reboot (which power-cycles the PD controller) recovers DP output.

System details

  • Omarchy: 4.0.3-1
  • Kernel: Linux 7.2.3-arch1-3
  • CPU/GPU: Intel Meteor Lake-P, Intel Arc Graphics [8086:7d55], i915 driver
  • Hyprland: 0.56.2 (commit efb5099)
  • Sleep mode: s2idle (only mode available on this platform)
  • Internal display: eDP-1, 2256x1504@60
  • External display: 1920x1200@60 via DP-3 over a USB-C dock (DP alt mode;

Genesys Logic hub, not a Thunderbolt-tunnelled dock)

This looks like an upstream kernel / platform-firmware issue in the
ucsi_acpi Type-C path on Meteor Lake rather than something Omarchy controls,
but flagging it here in case others on Omarchy hit the same thing.

## What happened

After resuming from suspend (s2idle), the external monitor connected through a
USB-C dock never comes back. The DRM connector stays `disconnected` and no
amount of software intervention restores it — **only a full reboot works.**
Unplugging and replugging the dock's USB-C cable does *not* restore it.

The dock's USB side recovers fine on resume (hub, audio interface, mic all
