### What's wrong?


### Summary

Opening the **X** web app from the **Super+Space app menu** makes the whole Chromium instance disappear 2–24 seconds after the window appears. This happened on 10 of 10 menu launches, whether X was found by typing or by clicking it in the list.

The same web app started any other way keeps running under normal use (scrolling the feed, playing videos, opening posts). Other web apps opened from the same menu (YouTube, Google Photos) also keep running.

`X.desktop` and `YouTube.desktop` both contain `Exec=omarchy-launch-webapp <url>`, and there are no X-specific window rules or launcher changes on this system.

### How to reproduce

1. Stock Omarchy 4.0.3 with the default `chromium-flags.conf` and the X web app installed.
2. Log in to x.com in the X web app once. Using a terminal launch or Super+Shift+X avoids the problem while doing this.
3. Close all Chromium windows.
4. Press Super+Space and pick **X**.
5. Within about 2–24 seconds of the home feed loading, the window vanishes. No interaction is needed; it also happened with the window left alone.

### What the exit looks like

- The browser process is gone within about 15–120 ms of the window's `closewindow` event.
- It is not an orderly shutdown:
  - Chromium never gets to "The browser is shutting down" (which a normal close prints, via the 1Password extension's console).
  - `Local State` is not written at exit.
- It is not a crash that leaves a record:
  - `coredumpctl` shows no Chromium entries at all, and there is no `traps:`/`segfault` kernel line. On this machine systemd-coredump does log other crashes (for example a 1Password SIGILL the same day).
  - `~/.config/chromium/Crash Reports/{new,pending,completed}` stay empty.
- Nothing is logged:
  - With `--enable-logging --v=0 --log-file=…` there is no ERROR/FATAL line before the exit. The log just stops.
  - There is nothing in the journal apart from the `app-org.chromium.Chromium-<pid>.scope` / `app-Hyprland-chromium-*.scope` "Consumed …" lines, and no protocol or client errors in `hyprland.log`.

### Ruled out

- **Duplicated flags (#11339):** every flag appears exactly once in the command line of a Chromium launched from the menu.
- **Launch environment:** a menu-launched Chromium and a surviving one had identical ignored/blocked signal masks, `RLIMIT_NOFILE`, `oom_score_adj` and parent (`systemd --user`). stdin/stdout/stderr are `/dev/null` on every process. Quickshell's environment only adds `QS_*` variables.
- **Memory/OOM:** there are no limits on `app-graphical.slice` or the scopes (`RuntimeMaxUSec=infinity`, default `KillMode`). systemd-oomd reports 0 % pressure and no kills, and there is no kernel OOM.
- **GPU/video:** there are no i915/DRM errors. X died with no video on screen, while menu-launched YouTube played video without problems. This is an Intel-only GPU, so NVIDIA issues (#6024, #7314) don't apply.
- **Quickshell launch feedback:** the "Launching…" OSD never appears, because the window maps in about 1 s. Quickshell's MPRIS watcher never registered the dying instances, and its log (all categories enabled) shows nothing at the exit times.
- **Typing or the input method:** selecting X by click without typing also exits. fcitx5 logs nothing at those times.
- **Other:** the 1Password extension (a surviving instance ran the identical unlock/sync sequence), touch gestures, the on-screen keyboard, and systemd drop-ins (none apply to app scopes).

The browser process moves itself into `app-org.chromium.Chromium-<pid>.scope`. Its GPU process, zygotes and renderers stay in `app-Hyprland-chromium-*.scope`, as with every uwsm launch, including the ones that survive.

### Not determined

- **What ends the process.** The pattern (no core, no log line, no shutdown path) looks like an uncatchable SIGKILL or an `_exit` without logging. `strace`/`bpftrace` weren't available to confirm which, and the sender wasn't identified.
- **Why only X combined with the menu launch is affected.**

Original symptom: Chromium "crashing" every time while logging in to X, which was being opened from the app menu. Firefox had to be used to log in.
