Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

omarchy install service dropbox reports "libappindicator-gtk3 did not install" although pacman installed its replacementrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

What happens

omarchy-install-service-dropbox runs:

omarchy-pkg-add dropbox dropbox-cli libappindicator-gtk3 python-gpgme nautilus-dropbox

Arch has renamed libappindicator-gtk3 to libappindicator, which declares
Provides/Replaces/Conflicts: libappindicator-gtk3. pacman -S resolves the old
name through the provide and installs libappindicator, but omarchy-pkg-add's
post-install check then runs pacman -Q libappindicator-gtk3, which doesn't resolve
provides, so it prints:

Error: Package 'libappindicator-gtk3' did not install

and exits 1. The installer has no set -e, so Dropbox is still installed and
started, but the user sees a red failure for a package that is in fact installed.
omarchy-pkg-missing libappindicator-gtk3 likewise keeps reporting it as missing.

Expected

No error, e.g. by requesting libappindicator in the installer.

Verification (Omarchy 4.0.3-1)

$ pacman -Si libappindicator | grep -E 'Provides|Replaces'
Provides : libappindicator-gtk3=12.10.1
Replaces : libappindicator-gtk3
$ pacman -Sp --print-format '%n %v' libappindicator-gtk3
libappindicator 12.10.1-2
$ pacman -Q libappindicator-gtk3
error: package 'libappindicator-gtk3' was not found
$ omarchy-pkg-missing libappindicator-gtk3; echo $?
0

The installer on the default branch still lists libappindicator-gtk3.
No existing issue or PR found for this.
