Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

What is wrong?
In Files (Nautilus), selecting Trash and clicking Trash Settings produces this dialog instead of opening settings:
There was an error launching the app.
Details:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name is not activatableThis is still reproducible on Omarchy 4.0.3 with Nautilus 50.3.1. Nautilus hard-codes activation of the org.gnome.Settings D-Bus service for this action, but Omarchy does not provide an activator for that service.
The same underlying issue was reported in #5531, which was closed as completed, and again in #10409, which was closed as a duplicate. Since the failure remains present on current versions, this appears not to have been resolved for the stock Files experience.
Steps to reproduce
- Open Files.
- Select Trash in the sidebar.
- Click the trash-can/settings control and select Trash Settings.
- Observe the D-Bus
ServiceUnknownerror dialog.
The equivalent File History Settings action in Recent is expected to have the same failure because it targets the same missing service.
Expected behavior
The action should open a working settings interface. If Omarchy intentionally does not provide GNOME Settings, Nautilus should not expose an action that is guaranteed to fail; an Omarchy-native settings action or hiding the unsupported item would both avoid the error.
Workaround
The underlying settings can be changed without the UI:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.privacy remove-old-trash-files true
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.privacy old-files-age 30No full GNOME Control Center installation should be necessary merely to avoid a broken stock Files action.
