A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Wi-Fi: inline passphrase prompt loses focus when the scan list reordersrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

Describe the bug

Typing a Wi-Fi passphrase in the inline password prompt is interrupted because the network list keeps reordering under scans: the row the prompt is attached to gets recycled, the TextField loses visibility/focus, and input breaks mid-entry.

To reproduce

  1. Open the network panel and start a scan (omarchy-network-status → syncWifiNetworks).
  2. Pick a protected Wi-Fi network without saved credentials, so the inline passphrase prompt opens.
  3. Begin typing the passphrase.
  4. As fresh scan results arrive (signal strengths fluctuate), the list is re-sorted by signal (Model.js sortWifiRows, b.signal - a.signal), rows are recycled by the ListView, and the open prompt collapses — focus is lost and the half-typed passphrase stops registering.

In practice this makes entering a long passphrase before the list settles effectively impossible: the prompt keeps closing while you type.

Expected behavior

While the passphrase prompt is open, the visible list must not reorder/refresh, so the row and its TextField stay mounted and the input keeps focus. The panel already does exactly this for the keyboard cursor — PanelKeyCatcher.blocked: root.passwordSsid !== "" — but nothing freezes the network model / scan refresh path.

Suggested approach

Mirror the existing keyboard freeze on the data path: when root.passwordSsid !== "", defer syncWifiNetworks() (or skip re-sorting / skip AP-scan-triggered list updates) until the prompt is cancelled or the connection attempt starts. The scan results already in hand don't change while a prompt is open, so deferring a poll tick or two is invisible to the user.

Environment

  • Omarchy 4.0.1-1 (standard shell)
  • shell/plugins/panels/network/Panel.qml + Model.js
