Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
What happened
During an Omarchy-triggered pacman -Syu, the Omarchy monitor watcher
(omarchy-hyprland-monitor-watch) launched:
hyprctl monitors all -j
That hyprctl process terminated with SIGBUS while the package transaction
was replacing system libraries.
Evidence
- The crash occurred at 13:24:30 CEST.
- The transaction's pre-update Omarchy hook ran at 13:24:30.
abseil-cppwas upgraded during that transaction at the same time.hyprutilswas upgraded from 0.14.1-1 to 0.14.2-1.hyprlandwas upgraded from 0.56.2-1 to 0.56.2-2.- The core's instruction pointer was in the dynamic loader, performing a
write into a mapping belonging to libabsl_synchronization.
- There was 5.8 GiB available memory and no OOM event.
- This was the only recorded hyprctl SIGBUS crash.
Likely cause
The monitor watcher remained able to start hyprctl while pacman was replacing
shared libraries. The process appears to have faulted while loading a library
being updated. The existing Omarchy update guard pauses config auto-reloads,
but does not prevent monitor-watcher queries during the package transaction.
Expected behavior
The monitor watcher should not crash while an Omarchy system update is in
progress. Possible fixes include pausing or suppressing monitor-watcher
queries for the full package transaction, or otherwise ensuring they cannot
start while libraries are being replaced.
No user data was lost; this was a read-only monitor query.
