Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report

ASUS ProArt P16 (Ryzen AI 9 HX + RTX): live ISO freezes; needs amdgpu.dcdebugmask + nouveau blacklistrevision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

System details

ASUS ProArt P16 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 / AMD Radeon 890M) Omarchy 4.0.3

What's wrong?

  1. Booting the Omarchy ISO hung at:

archiso login: root (automatic login)
Caps Lock LED still toggled, but no keyboard input / installer did not start.
2. Secure Boot off and Fast Boot off did not help.
3. After install, black/blank screen after login was intermittent until kernel params were set.

Workaround that fixed it

Kernel parameters:
amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x600 module_blacklist=nouveau
- On the live USB: added at the boot menu (e), then installer worked.
- On the installed system: added permanently in /etc/default/limine:
KERNEL_CMDLINE[default]+="amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x600 module_blacklist=nouveau"

then sudo limine-update

This then caused problems for hardware acceleration on youtube app which an agent fixed for me.

Suggestion

Detect this hardware (or document for ProArt P16 / HX + RTX hybrids) and apply these params during install / first boot so users don’t hard-freeze on the ISO login screen.

Extra notes

  • nomodeset alone was not enough for me.
