What's wrong?
Hi Omarchy team,
I'm having a recurring Wi-Fi issue on Omarchy and would appreciate some help diagnosing it properly.
This is the only significant issue I've experienced with Omarchy so far.
Problem
While using the system, Wi-Fi will randomly become almost completely unusable even though NetworkManager still shows the connection as active.
When this happens:
Internet speed drops significantly.
Ping becomes extremely high.
Connections eventually time out / reach 100% packet loss.
Wi-Fi still appears as connected.
The problem can occur during normal use without any obvious trigger.
A normal restart can also leave Wi-Fi unavailable. However, doing a complete shutdown and then powering the machine back on consistently brings Wi-Fi back.
Hardware / driver
My Wi-Fi adapter is:
Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11b/g/n PCIe Adapter
PCI ID: 10ec:d723
Driver:
rtw88_8723de
Interface:
wlo1
Current healthy connection
When working normally:
Signal: -51 dBm
RX bitrate: 65.0 MBit/s
TX bitrate: 72.2 MBit/s
Router ping is also stable:
20 packets transmitted, 20 received, 0% packet loss
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.823/1.010/2.057/0.248 ms
Internet connectivity is also normal when the problem isn't occurring:
1.1.1.1: 0% packet loss
average ping: ~5.6 ms
Relevant logs
The driver initializes with:
rtw88_8723de 0000:02:00.0: Firmware version 48.0.0, H2C version 0
rtw88_8723de 0000:02:00.0 wlo1: renamed from wlan0
NetworkManager also detects the adapter normally and reports:
driver rtw88_8723de
Wi-Fi hardware radio set enabled
I'm also seeing Omarchy-specific NetworkManager configuration:
/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/{omarchy-wifi-powersave.conf,wifi-powersave-off.conf}
What I'm looking for
Could someone from the Omarchy/Linux networking side advise me on the proper way to diagnose and fix this?
In particular, I'm wondering whether this is a known issue with:
rtw88_8723de
RTL8723DE firmware
Wi-Fi power management
NetworkManager configuration
suspend/resume or device reset behavior
Omarchy's Wi-Fi configuration
I don't want to randomly change driver or power-management settings without knowing what the intended configuration is.
I'm happy to provide additional logs from the exact moment the Wi-Fi fails if that would help.
Thanks! Omarchy has otherwise been working great for me, so I'd really like to get this one issue figured out.
