Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

T1 MacBook (macbook-t1.conf) still ships pcie_ports=compat, breaking Thunderbolt dock PCIe tunneling — migration 1785944594 only covers T2revision 1 · captured 2026-09-28 21:23 UTC via poll

System details

Omarchy 4.0.0.alpha, MacBook 13,2

What's wrong?

/usr/share/omarchy/migrations/1785944594.sh ("Update T2 Mac suspend, Touch Bar, and fan defaults") replaces pcie_ports=compat with pm_async=off mem_sleep_default=deep in /etc/limine-entry-tool.d/t2-mac.conf, gated on detecting the Apple T2 PCI ID (106b:1801/1802). Non-T2 Touch Bar MacBooks (T1 security chip, e.g. MacBookPro13,2/14,x) use /etc/limine-entry-tool.d/macbook-t1.conf instead, which still has the old KERNEL_CMDLINE[default]+=" pcie_ports=compat" and was never migrated.

Impact: pcie_ports=compat disables the native PCIe hotplug driver (pciehp) on the machine's PCIe root/downstream ports. Thunderbolt PCIe-tunneled devices depend on pciehp to hot-add the PCI function that appears for a dock's internal PCIehardware. Concretely, on a MacBookPro13,2 with a CalDigit TS3 Plus dock:
- The dock's Thunderbolt controller itself is detected and authorized fine(boltctl list shows authorized).
- DisplayPort passthrough works (video tunnels separately from PCI hotplug).
- The dock's wired Ethernet never appears in ip link, and no PCI device is ever hot-added on the downstream bus behind the Thunderbolt bridge (confirmed viajournalctl -k — no pciehp/bridge-assign messages for that bus after the TS3 Plus is found).

Fix applied locally (mirrors what the T2 migration already does):
sudo sed -i 's/pcie_ports=compat/pm_async=off mem_sleep_default=deep/' /etc/limine-entry-tool.d/macbook-t1.conf
sudo limine-mkinitcpio
After reboot, the dock's Ethernet interface enumerates normally.

Request: Extend migration 1785944594 (or add a new one) to apply the samepcie_ports=compat → pm_async=off mem_sleep_default=deep replacement to macbook-t1.conf, so T1 Touch Bar Macs get the same suspend/PCIe-hotplug fix as T2 Macs.

Environment:
- Hardware: MacBookPro13,2 (2016 15", Touch Bar/T1, Skylake, Alpine Ridge JHL6540 Thunderbolt 3)
- Omarchy version: 4.0.0.alpha
- Dock: CalDigit TS3 Plus
