Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.
Fresh offline-ISO install leaves pacman sync databases unpopulated — every Install-menu entry fails with "target not found"

System details
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, NVIDIA RTX 3070, 32GB RAM, kernel 7.1.9-arch1-2, omarchy 4.0.2-1, installed from the Omarchy ISO (offline install)
What's wrong?
On the first boot after an offline-ISO install, every entry in the Install menu fails. Picking Install → 1Password:
Installing 1Password...
warning: database file for 'core' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download)
warning: database file for 'extra' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download)
warning: database file for 'multilib' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download)
warning: database file for 'omarchy' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download)
error: target not found: 1password
error: target not found: 1password-cliCause
The ISO installs every package from a repo named offline — from /var/log/omarchy-install.log:
:: Synchronizing package databases...
offline downloading...The resulting system's /etc/pacman.conf lists core, extra, multilib and omarchy, but their sync databases are never downloaded. /var/lib/pacman/sync/ on first boot contains only a stale offline.db, whose repo section no longer exists in pacman.conf. So pacman has nothing to resolve package names against.
omarchy-pkg-add — which every Install-menu entry funnels through — installs without refreshing:
# /usr/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-pkg-add
sudo pacman -S --noconfirm --needed "$@" || exit 1and grep -rn -- "-Sy" /usr/share/omarchy/bin/ returns nothing, so only the update path (omarchy refresh pacman) ever populates the databases. Until the user independently runs an update, every Install-menu entry fails.
Reproduce
- Install Omarchy 4.0.2 from the ISO (offline install).
- On first boot, open the Omarchy menu → Install → 1Password (any entry reproduces it).
- It fails as above.
From my /var/log/pacman.log, three failures, then success only after the databases happened to land:
19:53:19 pacman -S --noconfirm --needed 1password 1password-cli <- failed
19:54:01 (same) <- failed
20:00:50 (same) <- failed
20:23:58 /var/lib/pacman/sync/ populated with core/extra/multilib
20:39:13 (same command) <- worked
20:40:39 installed 1password (8.12.34-34)Workaround
sudo pacman -Syu once, after which the Install menu works permanently.
Suggested fix
Seed the pacman sync databases at the end of the offline install (or on first run), and/or have omarchy-pkg-add refresh when /var/lib/pacman/sync/core.db is missing.

### System details AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, NVIDIA RTX 3070, 32GB RAM, kernel 7.1.9-arch1-2, omarchy 4.0.2-1, installed from the Omarchy ISO (offline install) ### What's wrong? On the first boot after an offline-ISO install, every entry in the Install menu fails. Picking `Install → 1Password`: ``` Installing 1Password... warning: database file for 'core' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download) warning: database file for 'extra' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download) warning: database file for 'multilib' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download) warning: database file for 'omarchy' does not exist (use '-Sy' to download) error: target not found: 1password error: target not found: 1password-cli ``` **Cause** The ISO installs every package from a repo named `offline` — from `/var/log/omarchy-install.log`: ``` :: Synchronizing package databases... offline downloading... ``` The resulting system's `/etc/pacman.conf` lists `core`, `extra`, `multilib` and `omarchy`, but their sync databases are never downloaded. `/var/lib/pacman/sync/` on first boot contains only a stale `offline.db`, whose repo section no longer exists in `pacman.conf`. So pacman has nothing to resolve package names against. `omarchy-pkg-add` — which every Install-menu entry funnels through — installs without refreshing: ```bash # /usr/share/omarchy/bin/omarchy-pkg-add sudo pacman -S --noconfirm --needed "$@" || exit 1 ``` and `grep -rn -- "-Sy" /usr/share/omarchy/bin/` returns nothing, so only the update path (`omarchy refresh pacman`) ever populates the databases. Until the user independently runs an update, *every* Install-menu entry fails. **Reproduce** 1. Install Omarchy 4.0.2 from the ISO (offline install). 2. On first boot, open the Omarchy menu → Install → 1Password (any entry reproduces it). 3. It fails as above. From my `/var/log/pacman.log`, three failures, then success only after the databases happened to land: ``` 19:53:19 pacman -S --noconfirm --needed 1password 1password-cli <- failed 19:54:01 (same) <- failed 20:00:50 (same) <- failed 20:23:58 /var/lib/pacman/sync/ populated with core/extra/multilib 20:39:13 (same command) <- worked 20:40:39 installed 1password (8.12.34-34) ``` **Workaround** `sudo pacman -Syu` once, after which the Install menu works permanently. **Suggested fix** Seed the pacman sync databases at the end of the offline install (or on first run), and/or have `omarchy-pkg-add` refresh when `/var/lib/pacman/sync/core.db` is missing. **Related** - #1994 is the same symptom on Omarchy 3.0.1, closed as completed in Oct 2025 — the offline-installer path appears not to be covered. - #9813 is adjacent but distinct: it argues `-S` risks a *partial upgrade*. Here `-S` cannot succeed at all, because the databases do not exist.
