Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
System details
Intel i7-11370H, Intel Iris Xe + NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti Mobile, Omarchy 4.0.2-1, Quickshell 0.3.1-1, Arch Linux x86_64, native Wayland.
The installed shell/plugins/notifications/Service.qml and NotificationLogic.js are byte-identical to quattro at f99d33a8.
What's wrong?
Separate D-Bus notifications with the same app name, summary and body render as separate toast cards when they arrive under different notification ids.
Omarchy 3.8 grouped these. Commit 5c3ca608 ("Group duplicate notifications") added this to default/mako/core.ini:
group-by=app-name,summary,bodyWith mako's defaults that shows the newest member only, prefixed with the group size, and the 3.8 release notes describe it as "identical notifications should be grouped". The Quickshell service that replaced mako (c1015912) handles replaces_id by originalId (020cb537) but has no content grouping, so the behavior was lost in the transition.
Steps to reproduce
On current Omarchy, run in quick succession:
omarchy notification send --app-name grouping-probe -t 10000 "Grouping probe" "Same body"
omarchy notification send --app-name grouping-probe -t 10000 "Grouping probe" "Same body"Actual: two visually identical cards.
Expected: one card reading (2) Grouping probe, as under the 3.8 mako configuration. Notifications that differ in app name, summary or body should stay separate.
Real-world trigger
The official ChatGPT Linux desktop app (openai-codex-desktop 26.825.51511-1) emits one native notification per renderer window for a single completed response. With four windows open, every completed turn in a session produced two or three D-Bus notifications with distinct ids and identical app, summary, body, urgency, icon and expiry, 25 to 55 ms apart. That is a sender bug and is being reported to OpenAI separately, but the same pattern exists for other multi-window Electron apps, and the mako-era grouping covered all of them.
Related
- #7834 reports the same regression family for mako's replacement hints.
- #9671 asks for coalescing of same app + summary + body rows on restore; grouping in the live model covers restored rows as well.
- Discussion #4285 asked for grouping of repeated notifications from one app before Quattro.
Suggested fix
Compute an exact app + summary + body group across the live popup model, render only the newest member with the group size in its summary (mako's (%g) %s), and keep every underlying row so its action, timeout, server reference, persistence file and history entry keep working. A patch with a regression test (red on the current source, green with the change) is ready and will be opened as a PR referencing this issue.
