Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Original report
System details
AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS, AMD Radeon 780M (RADV Phoenix), Hyprland 0.56.2, Omarchy dev (f99d33a8 / omarchy-dev 4.0.0.r2014.gf99d33a-1), Xiaomi 4K monitor at scale 2.
What's wrong?
Updating from the menu (Update → Omarchy) can leave the presentation terminal invisible on the desktop while it still shows up in a window overview as an empty card labeled org.omarchy.terminal / Omarchy.
Steps
- Open the menu and run Update → Omarchy (this launches
omarchy-launch-floating-terminal-with-presentation omarchy-update). - Let the update finish.
omarchy-update-restartalways restarts the shell. - The floating 875×600 terminal that should show
Done! Press any key to close...is gone from the desktop. - A window overview still lists a toplevel with class
org.omarchy.terminaland titleOmarchy, but screencopy has no buffer (fallback text is the app id).
Expected
The presentation terminal stays a visible, centered, 875×600 floating window so the user can read the Done prompt and press a key.
Why
xdg-terminal-exec --app-id=org.omarchy.terminal --title=Omarchy is tagged floating-window (float + center + size { 875, 600 } in default/hypr/apps/system.lua). Those rules are map-time only.
omarchy-restart-shell kills Quickshell and brings it back. That tears down the bar's exclusive zone and can leave the still-running foot window 0-size, off-screen, or without a buffer. Hyprland still exports the toplevel, so overviews see it and the desktop does not.
Running omarchy update in a normal tiled terminal does not create this window and does not hit the bug.
Workaround
Close the ghost from an overview, or:
hyprctl dispatch 'hl.dsp.window.close({ window = "class:org.omarchy.terminal" })'If the process is still waiting on omarchy-show-done, a keypress with that window focused also ends it.

### What's wrong?
Updating from the menu (Update → Omarchy) can leave the presentation terminal invisible on the desktop while it still shows up in a window overview as an empty card labeled `org.omarchy.terminal` / `Omarchy`.
**Steps**
1. Open the menu and run **Update → Omarchy** (this launches `omarchy-launch-floating-terminal-with-presentation omarchy-update`).
2. Let the update finish. `omarchy-update-restart` always restarts the shell.
3. The floating 875×600 terminal that should show `Done! Press any key to close...` is gone from the desktop.
4. A window overview still lists a toplevel with class `org.omarchy.terminal` and title `Omarchy`, but screencopy has no buffer (fallback text is the app id).
**Expected**
The presentation terminal stays a visible, centered, 875×600 floating window so the user can read the Done prompt and press a key.
**Why**
`xdg-terminal-exec --app-id=org.omarchy.terminal --title=Omarchy` is tagged `floating-window` (`float` + `center` + `size { 875, 600 }` in `default/hypr/apps/system.lua`). Those rules are map-time only.

```bash
hyprctl dispatch 'hl.dsp.window.close({ window = "class:org.omarchy.terminal" })'
```
If the process is still waiting on `omarchy-show-done`, a keypress with that window focused also ends it.Validation
