Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Generated VS Code theme renders inline code (`textPreformat`) at low contrast, especially on light themesrevision 1 · captured 2026-10-04 01:21 UTC via poll

What's wrong?

In the generated Omarchy VS Code theme, inline code (` code `)
renders textPreformat.foreground in cyan on the plain editor background
with no tint, which is hard to read. Fenced code blocks are unaffected
(they use editor token colors).

default/themed/vscode-theme.json.tpl:

  • textCodeBlock.background: {{ background }}
  • textPreformat.foreground: {{ cyan }}
  • textPreformat.background: {{ background }}

Measured (shipped light palettes, cyan-on-background contrast):

PaletteRatio
flexoki-light (#3AA99F on #FFFCF0)2.78:1
catppuccin-latte (#179299 on #eff1f5)3.31:1

Both below WCAG 4.5:1 for normal text, with no background distinction at
all. Upstream VS Code Light Modern uses #3B3B3B on #0000001F
(11.2:1 with a subtle tint), and VS Code's own base colors also pair the
preformat foreground with a tinted background (light: #0000001A).

Who is affected?

Shipped light themes dodge this via vscode.json third-party rendering;
the generated file is rendered by repo-installed themes (forced — they
cannot ship vscode.json) and 6 shipped ones. Of those 6, only white
is light, and it is safe by palette luck (cyan #3e3e3e, 10.70:1).
So in practice this is a community-theme problem — which is presumably
why it has no prior report (checked: no existing issue covers
textPreformat).

Related: #9982 (same template, different keys — muted dual-use).

Suggestion

Pair the preformat foreground with a tinted background so it reads on
both modes, e.g. foreground text on a low-alpha muted fill, instead
of cyan on plain background. Exact values are maintainer's call —
filing this as a report, happy to turn it into a PR on guidance.

## What's wrong?
