Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Revision12 (current)
Audio volume resolver misses effect_input/effect_output filter-chain pairsrevision 2 · captured 2026-10-04 13:23 UTC via poll

The EasyEffects-specific fix in #13396 has merged, but the separate filter-chain reproduction in #12204 remains outside it.

The user-reported configuration selects effect_input.Dolby_Balanced as its default sink and publishes a downstream stream named effect_output.Dolby_Balanced, targeting sink 68. In quattro at 27a3feff, omarchy-audio-output-sink requires the stream name to begin with the virtual sink name. That test cannot match this pair, and the new PipeWire-link lookup is gated on easyeffects_sink. Given that reported inventory, the resolver returns the virtual input, so the volume command and audio panel control that input rather than the downstream sink. This does not establish that volume changes are inaudible or normalized by this particular filter.

This is a user-supplied filter-chain naming case, not a claim that PipeWire mandates these names or that all filter chains fail. Existing prefix-compatible Omarchy tuning remains handled. The broader proposal #12299 closed without merging its generic mapping.

The mechanism is supported by source and the historical user reproduction; no fresh hardware reproduction or tests were run. The full filter configuration and sink inventory are needed to establish the downstream device and audible impact.

The EasyEffects-specific fix in [#13396](https://github.com/omacom/omarchy/pull/13396) has merged, but the [separate filter-chain reproduction in #12204](https://github.com/omacom/omarchy/issues/12204#issuecomment-5720888866) remains outside it.

The user-reported configuration selects `effect_input.Dolby_Balanced` as its default sink and publishes a downstream stream named `effect_output.Dolby_Balanced`, targeting sink 68. In `quattro` at `27a3feff`, `omarchy-audio-output-sink` requires the stream name to begin with the virtual sink name. That test cannot match this pair, and the new PipeWire-link lookup is gated on `easyeffects_sink`. Given that reported inventory, the resolver returns the virtual input, so the volume command and audio panel control that input rather than the downstream sink. This does not establish that volume changes are inaudible or normalized by this particular filter.
