Omarchy

ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirements

A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Bar: omarchy.indicators cannot be revealed by hovering it when placed outside the center sectionrevision 2 · captured 2026-10-10 21:04 UTC via poll

What happens

With omarchy.indicators in the left or right section and no indicator active, the widget has zero width, so there is nothing to hover. Its inactive indicators only appear when the pointer enters the bar's center section, even though the widget sits elsewhere. They then stay open until the pointer leaves the bar.

Expected

The indicators open from the section they sit in: hovering the left section reveals indicators placed on the left, and hovering an unrelated center section does not. The default layout, with the indicators in the center, behaves as it does today.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Move the widget out of the center: omarchy bar move omarchy.indicators --section left
  2. Make sure no indicator is active (no DND, night light, reminder, etc.).
  3. Hover the left section, where the widget is: nothing appears.
  4. Hover any widget in the center section: the indicators expand over in the left section.

Cause

In shell/plugins/bar/widgets/Indicators.qml, the inactive block has implicitWidth: 0 unless revealInactiveIndicators is true, and that property is otherwise driven by bar.centerSectionRevealHeld, which is set by hovering the center section regardless of where the widget sits. The widget has no way to know its section, and the bar only tracks the peek for the center.

Suggested fix

Have the bar tell each widget which section it sits in and hold the same peek for the left and right sections, then let the indicators follow the peek of their own section. No new visual element is needed. I have a branch with this and will open a PR.
