Omarchy
ProbeLabs65 findings · 95 requirementsA proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.
Sublime Text can't be set as default editor (menu checks for 'sublime_text' binary, package ships 'subl')

Original report
What happened
Sublime Text cannot be selected as the default editor through Omarchy's menu (Setup → Default → Editor), even when it's fully installed via the sublime-text-4 package. The menu entry never appears.
Why
omarchy-menu.jsonc gates the Sublime entry on the literal command name sublime_text:
"setup.default.editor.sublime": {"icon":"","label":"Sublime Text","when":"omarchy-cmd-present sublime_text","checked":"[[ \"$(omarchy-default-editor)\" == \"sublime_text\" ]]","action":"omarchy-default-editor sublime_text"},But the sublime-text-4 Arch package only installs /usr/bin/subl — it has never shipped a binary named sublime_text:
$ pacman -Ql sublime-text-4 | grep /usr/bin/
sublime-text-4 /usr/bin/
sublime-text-4 /usr/bin/subl
$ command -v sublime_text; echo $?
1So omarchy-cmd-present sublime_text always fails, and the menu entry is permanently hidden regardless of install state. omarchy-default-editor's case statement has the same gap — it accepts sublime_text as a value but never subl, so there's no way to set it via omarchy default editor either:
sublime_text) editor="sublime_text"; name="Sublime Text"; glyph= ;;This isn't a "reinstall the package" fix — omarchy install editor sublime (install.editor.sublime in the menu) installs the exact same sublime-text-4 package, which has never provided a sublime_text binary. The install path and the default-editor path reference two different, both-wrong assumptions about the binary name.
Expected
Sublime Text should be selectable as the default editor once sublime-text-4 is installed, matching on the actual subl binary (and the default-editor script should store/compare subl, not sublime_text).
Workaround
Manually write the state file that omarchy-launch-editor reads (bypasses the menu):
mkdir -p ~/.local/state/omarchy/defaults
echo subl > ~/.local/state/omarchy/defaults/editorSystem details

Note: omarchy debug --no-sudo --print returned "Unknown Omarchy command" on this version, so no diagnostic log is attached — happy to provide one if the command has moved.
Steps to reproduce
- Install Sublime Text via Omarchy's menu (Install → Editor → Sublime Text) or
pacman -S sublime-text-4. - Open the Omarchy menu → Setup → Default → Editor.
- Observe Sublime Text is not listed as an option, even though it's installed and
sublworks fine from a terminal.

## What happened
Sublime Text cannot be selected as the default editor through Omarchy's menu (Setup → Default → Editor), even when it's fully installed via the `sublime-text-4` package. The menu entry never appears.
## Why
`omarchy-menu.jsonc` gates the Sublime entry on the literal command name `sublime_text`:
```
"setup.default.editor.sublime": {"icon":"","label":"Sublime Text","when":"omarchy-cmd-present sublime_text","checked":"[[ \"$(omarchy-default-editor)\" == \"sublime_text\" ]]","action":"omarchy-default-editor sublime_text"},
```
But the `sublime-text-4` Arch package only installs `/usr/bin/subl` — it has never shipped a binary named `sublime_text`:
```
$ pacman -Ql sublime-text-4 | grep /usr/bin/
sublime-text-4 /usr/bin/
sublime-text-4 /usr/bin/subl
$ command -v sublime_text; echo $?
1
```
So `omarchy-cmd-present sublime_text` always fails, and the menu entry is permanently hidden regardless of install state. `omarchy-default-editor`'s case statement has the same gap — it accepts `sublime_text` as a value but never `subl`, so there's no way to set it via `omarchy default editor` either:
```
sublime_text) editor="sublime_text"; name="Sublime Text"; glyph= ;;
```
This isn't a "reinstall the package" fix — `omarchy install editor sublime` (`install.editor.sublime` in the menu) installs the exact same `sublime-text-4` package, which has never provided a `sublime_text` binary. The install path and the default-editor path reference two different, both-wrong assumptions about the binary name.
## Expected
Sublime Text should be selectable as the default editor once `sublime-text-4` is installed, matching on the actual `subl` binary (and the `default-editor` script should store/compare `subl`, not `sublime_text`).
## Workaround
Manually write the state file that `omarchy-launch-editor` reads (bypasses the menu):
```bash
mkdir -p ~/.local/state/omarchy/defaults
echo subl > ~/.local/state/omarchy/defaults/editor
```
## System details
- `omarchy version`: 4.0.1-1
- `sublime-text-4` package version: 4.4200-1
- `uname -a`: Linux DOGE 7.1.9-arch1-2 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri, 21 Aug 2026 22:18:59 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Note: `omarchy debug --no-sudo --print` returned "Unknown Omarchy command" on this version, so no diagnostic log is attached — happy to provide one if the command has moved.
## Steps to reproduce
1. Install Sublime Text via Omarchy's menu (Install → Editor → Sublime Text) or `pacman -S sublime-text-4`.
2. Open the Omarchy menu → Setup → Default → Editor.
3. Observe Sublime Text is not listed as an option, even though it's installed and `subl` works fine from a terminal.
