A proof layer — requirements, tests and verified fixes — for two of Omarchy's subsystems: the application menu (launcher scripts, QML model, JSONC config, search and selection) and the lock screen (lock scripts, QML, PAM authentication). Scope is deliberately limited to those components of omacom/omarchy; the rest of the distribution is not covered.

Nightlight: mouse cursor outline turns fluorescent blue on NVIDIA (hardware cursor not tinted by hyprsunset)revision 2 · captured 2026-10-01 00:17 UTC via poll

What happens

On NVIDIA, while nightlight is on (omarchy toggle nightlight, hyprsunset), the mouse cursor's outline turns fluorescent blue. With nightlight off the cursor looks normal.

Expected

The cursor is tinted like the rest of the screen, with no blue outline.

Steps to reproduce

  1. NVIDIA GPU, default cursor:no_hardware_cursors (2, auto).
  2. Run omarchy toggle nightlight.
  3. Look at the cursor over any window: its outline is bright blue.

Cause and what I tested

hyprsunset applies a CTM, which the NVIDIA hardware cursor plane doesn't receive.
- cursor:no_hardware_cursors = 1 (software cursor) fixes it, at the cost of losing the hardware cursor.
- A gamma-LUT client (wl-gammarelay-rs) also fixes it, since the gamma table does reach the hardware cursor. That's my current workaround.

System

  • Omarchy 4.0.4-1
  • Hyprland 0.56.2, hyprsunset 0.4.0-3
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (GA104), nvidia-open-dkms 610.57.04
